Okay, here’s my sharing of how I remade the PRADA Re-Edition 2000 bag, inspired by the official flagship store’s style.
So, I saw this PRADA Re-Edition 2000 bag at the official flagship store, and I just fell in love with it. But you know, the price tag was a bit, well, you know… So I thought, “Why not try to make one myself?” I mean, how hard could it be, right? Turns out, it was a bit of a journey, but totally worth it.
First, I spent hours, maybe even days, just staring at pictures of the bag online. I found some information that said something about “Re-Nylon, a signature fabric of the brand produced from recycled, purified plastic trash collected in the ocean” and “Saffiano leather details.” Fancy, huh? I also read that they’re “modern reinterpretations of the most classic” designs from 2000-2005. I even saw a description of one that said it’s “shaped to a nineties-style hobo silhouette, this dazzling number is crafted from soft leather.” Another one had a “terry-cloth texture.” Okay, lots of different styles, I got it.
I also found this store location thing, “Prada Saks at Saks Fifth Avenue in Chicago, Illinois 60611,” but that didn’t really help me much since I wasn’t planning on going to Chicago.
But then, bam! I saw something that really got me going: “With celebrities like Kendall Jenner, Sofia Richie Grainge, and Bella Hadid sporting it as their daily go-to bags, there’s no signs of the Re-Edition’s popularity slowing down anytime soon.” If it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for me, right? I knew I had to have one, one way or another.
I decided to go with the nylon version because, let’s be real, it seemed a bit easier to work with than leather. I found some pretty decent black nylon fabric at a local store. It wasn’t exactly “recycled, purified plastic trash collected in the ocean,” but it was close enough. I figured the Saffiano leather details would be the hardest part. After some searching, I managed to find some scraps of black leather that had a similar texture.
The next step was to figure out the shape. I took some measurements from the pictures I found and drew a rough pattern on some old fabric. It took a few tries to get it right, but eventually, I had something that looked like the right shape and size.
Then came the sewing. Let me tell you, sewing is not as easy as it looks. I broke a few needles, and my fingers were pretty sore by the end of it. But I persevered, and slowly but surely, the bag started to take shape. I added the leather details, which was tricky, but I managed to get them on there. And I even found a similar-looking zipper.
The Result
- It’s not perfect, of course. It’s a bit rough around the edges, and it doesn’t have that “official PRADA” feel.
- But, you know what? I made it myself. And that’s pretty cool.
- I carried it around for a few days, and I got a few compliments. Not bad for a DIY project, right?
So, yeah, that’s my story of how I remade the PRADA Re-Edition 2000 bag. It was a fun little adventure, and I learned a lot along the way. Maybe I’ll try to make another one, maybe a different style next time. Who knows?
