Okay, so, I’ve been eyeing the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso for a while now. I finally decided to take the plunge and go for the Tribute Monoface. I mean, it’s a classic, right?
First off, I started looking at the different versions available. Jaeger-LeCoultre has a couple of dial options for this one – a blue sunray lacquer and a silver opaline. Both look amazing, but since it’s a Monoface, there’s only one dial to think about.
The rectangular case of the Reverso is kind of its thing, you know? It’s got these soft curves that make it look super elegant. I measured my wrist, and the 40.1 x 24.4 mm size seemed like it would fit just right.
Then I started reading about the movement. The Reverso Monoface has the hand-wound Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 822, and it’s supposed to have a 42-hour power reserve. I’m not a watch expert, but I figured a hand-wound movement would be kind of cool to try out, and 42 hours seems like plenty of time between windings. Also, the strap is apparently based on a Fagliano design, which is a big deal for Reverso fans, so that’s a plus.
After doing all this research, I realized that this watch is a good deal on the secondary market, usually selling for between $3,000 and $33,000, with an average price of $8,000. That’s actually less than the average price of all Jaeger-LeCoultre watches, which is around $9,000. That kind of sealed the deal for me.
I finally got my hands on one, and let me tell you, it’s even better in person. The blue dial is just stunning, and the whole watch feels really well-made. It looks great with a suit, but I’ve also been wearing it with jeans and a t-shirt, and it still looks awesome.
