Today I came across this ad for a Patek Philippe watch, and since I’ve been wanting to get a nice watch for a while now, I decided to check it out. The model is the PP Grand Complications 5320G-011, and it says it’s the official flagship store, so it should be legit, right?
First, I looked around for different stores that sell this kind of watch. The ad said there are “more than 50 stores at your service anywhere”, so I figured it shouldn’t be too hard to find one. But I have to say, it took me longer than I expected. It was quite a pain in the ass to find one. I really looked around for a while.
Then I started comparing prices. The website PriceRunner claims to let you “find and compare the lowest prices of more than 7.2 million products from over 6”. I tried it out, and honestly, it wasn’t as great as they say. It was a bit of a mess trying to find this specific watch model there.
While I was at it, I also checked out some other stuff, like clothes. One site was offering “ski wear, cycling clothing, and running clothing” at “great prices”. I just skimmed through, didn’t really need any, but it looked decent.
I went back to the watch. I wanted to see my order history, as the website says, “You’ll find all your orders from the past 7 years in your purchase history”. I’ve bought a few things from them before, so I thought it would be easy. But for some reason, I couldn’t find this watch in my history. Maybe because it’s a new model or something? I don’t know. It’s kind of annoying.
Oh, and I saw this random news piece about “the increase in employer National Insurance” and how it “will put immense pressure on the social care sector”. I don’t really get what that has to do with watches, but whatever. It just popped up while I was browsing.
There was also this thing about “Level: 25 Exp Points: 6,751 / 6,940 Exp Rank: 6”. I think it’s from some game or loyalty program? It looked pretty boring, so I just ignored it. I guess I’m not really into that stuff.
Finally, I stumbled upon “Tesco online food shopping” while searching for the watch. I mean, what does groceries have to do with luxury watches? It was totally random. It’s quite a leap, going from fancy watches to online grocery shopping. It just shows how all over the place my search was.
Conclusion
