Alright, so I finally did it. I got myself one of those fancy OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatches. You know, the one that’s supposed to be like what they wore on the moon. And this one’s got that clear back, so you can see all the little gears and stuff moving around inside. Pretty neat, huh?
I’d been eyeing these watches for a while. Look, I read somewhere that they were chosen by NASA to be standard-issue for Apollo astronauts, which is like the coolest thing ever. It’s called the Speedmaster 105.012 “Professional” or something like that. This 42mm version, which is the one Neil Armstrong supposedly wore when he walked on the moon. That’s some serious history right there. They started making these in 1964, and the one I got was made sometime between then and 1968, or so I’m told.
First off, I started looking around online. Just typing in “CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch” into the search bar. I found a bunch of places selling them, even some “official flagship stores” and specialty shops. Prices were all over the place, but I had a budget in mind.
- Did some more digging. Found out these watches are supposed to be super tough, built to handle all kinds of crazy conditions. I mean, if it’s good enough for space, it’s probably good enough for my daily life, right? Plus, I heard they hold their value pretty well, so it’s kind of like an investment. Not that I’m planning on selling it anytime soon.
- Then I started looking for the “original order” ones with the transparent back. I mean, if I’m getting a Moonwatch, I want to see those gears in action! It took some time, comparing different sites, reading reviews, and all that jazz.
Finally, I found the one I wanted. Transparent case back, checked. Looked just like the pictures online. Price was within my budget. I placed the order, and let me tell you, waiting for it to arrive was torture! Every day I was checking the tracking info like a hawk.
When it finally showed up, I ripped open that box like a kid on Christmas morning. And there it was, my very own OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. It was even better in person. That transparent back is mesmerizing. I spent like an hour just staring at the little gears moving around. I mean I know nothing about how watches work, but it’s still cool to see.
It was a good day!
So yeah, that’s my story. It took some time, some research, and a bit of money, but I finally got my hands on a piece of history. And I get to wear it on my wrist! Pretty darn cool if you ask me. They say this model can be a good investment. Hope it will.
