Okay, so I saw this Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi Bezel, and I thought, “Man, I gotta have that.” But, you know, the real deal is way out of my budget. So, I decided to try and make a high-imitation version myself. Yeah, I know, it sounds crazy, but I was determined.
First, I started looking around for information. I found out that the real ones have these reference numbers like 6542, 1675, and some others. And the hand stack is always Hour, GMT, then Minutes. That’s important if you want it to look legit.
I started gathering parts. I found some watch hands that looked pretty close to the real thing. I even got a bezel that looked like the Pepsi one, you know, red and blue. It wasn’t easy, let me tell you. I spent hours looking at pictures and comparing parts.
- Got some decent-looking watch hands.
- Found a Pepsi-style bezel.
- Scoured the internet for reference images.
Then came the tricky part – putting it all together. I’m no watchmaker, but I’ve messed around with watches before. I carefully placed the hands in the correct order, just like the real Rolex. I attached the bezel, and it actually looked pretty good. I was surprised myself!
I also remembered reading something about UV light and some hidden details on the real watches. So, I got a UV flashlight and shined it on my creation. I didn’t really see anything special, but hey, it was worth a shot.
The Final Result
After all that work, I finally had my own high-imitation Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi Bezel. It wasn’t perfect, of course. It didn’t have all the fancy stuff inside that the real ones have. But from a distance, it looked pretty darn close. And for the price I paid for the parts, it was a steal!
I know some people might say it’s wrong to make a fake watch, and maybe they’re right. But for me, it was more about the challenge and the fun of building something with my own hands. Plus, now I have a cool-looking watch that I can wear without worrying about losing a fortune if something happens to it.
So, that’s my story of how I made a high-imitation Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi Bezel. It was a lot of work, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s not the real deal, but it’s my own little creation, and that’s good enough for me.
