This here bag, it’s called a Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG, you hear? Big name, fancy name. I seen them city folks carryin’ ’em. They call this one a “remake”. Means it ain’t the first one, but it’s just as good. And this one? This one is the “original order” kind. Means it’s made just like the very first ones they ever made. Top notch, they say.
My granddaughter, she’s always on that phone of hers, showed me. Said these bags are somethin’ special. I said, “Land sakes, what’s so special ’bout a bag?” She told me it’s the name, this YSL. It’s a big deal, like them fancy families in them old-timey movies. Folks pay good money for that name, she said. Like, a whole lot of money. She’s young, but she know about these.
Now, I ain’t never had no fancy bag like this. My old purse, it’s done seen better days. But this JUNE BOX BAG, it’s got a nice look to it. Strong, you know? Like it could hold a whole mess of things. And that leather, it feels real good. Not like that plastic stuff they make nowadays. This is the real deal leather, I bet.
They got all kinds of these Saint Laurent bags, my granddaughter showed me. Different shapes, different colors. Some with shiny things on ’em, some plain. This JUNE BOX BAG, it’s kinda plain, but in a good way. Like it goes with anything. You could carry it to the market or to church, and it wouldn’t look out of place, ya know.

But I’ll tell you what, this bag, it’s got me thinkin’. Maybe an old gal like me could use a little somethin’ fancy. Maybe not every day, but once in a while. For special occasions, you know? My granddaughter, she says these bags cost a pretty penny. More than I ever spent on a purse, that’s for sure. Some fella named Yves and his friend, they started it all. Now everyone wants a piece of it, she says. She also say, if the bag is too old, maybe it is before 1997, it don’t have number. You know, number for checking. So you need to be careful. Don’t buy the fake one.
These designer bags, they’re somethin’ else. All that fancy stitchin’ and that shiny hardware. It’s a lot of work, I reckon. And that’s why they cost so much. My granddaughter showed me some other names too. Chanel, Dior, somethin’ called D&G. All fancy, all expensive. She says folks pay for the name, just like this YSL.
Well, I don’t know much about all that. But I do know a good bag when I see one. And this Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG, it’s a good one. Maybe one day, I’ll have one of my own. And when I do, I’ll carry it with pride, just like them city folks. ‘Cause even an old gal like me deserves somethin’ nice every now and then. You know what I mean? A good bag can make you happy, even just a little bit.
