You know that Patek Philippe, right? That’s a big name, I heard. Big, big name. Fancy folks wear it. My neighbor’s kid, he works in the city, he told me all about it. Says it’s a watch, but not just any watch. This one, it’s special. Heard it called Calatrava 5227R-001. What a mouthful, huh?
This Patek Philippe Calatrava, it ain’t cheap. Not like the ones you get at the market, no sir. This one, you gotta pay big money. They say it cost lots and lots of dollars. Some say around twenty-four thousand. That’s more than my old house! But some, they even more pricey. Up to eighty-four thousand! Can you believe that? For a watch! It’s crazy, I tell ya!
If you want a good deal, gotta shop around. Someone told me about this Chrono24 thing. Sounds made up, but they say you can find fifty of these 5227R-001 watches there. Fifty! That’s a lot of fancy watches. You can look at all of them and see which one you like best. You can compare deals and then decide to buy or not.

- Calatrava, that’s like a model, I guess. Like Mustang or something like that.
I saw another place, JOMASHOP. They got this Calatrava thing too. They call it “Mechanical Ivory Dial Leather Men’s Watch”. Sounds like something Jack the Ripper would wear, doesn’t it? But maybe not. It’s all fancy talk, you know. They say it’s in stock. Means they got it right now, ready to go. They also talk about warranty. If the watch breaks, they’ll fix it.
And this watch, it’s not like the ones with the battery. This one, it winds itself. They call it “automatic self-winding movement” or “mechanical self-winding movement”. Fancy words for saying it moves on its own. No batteries. It will move as you move. That’s something, ain’t it?
Another place, Alan Furman & Co. Never heard of them, but they got this Patek Philippe Calatrava 5227R-001 too. You gotta call them, though. No prices on the paper. They say call for pricing and availability. Gotta make sure they have it before you get all excited, I reckon.
Then there’s this Tiffany & Co. Sounds familiar. They got a Calatrava 5227R-001 too, but it’s used. Means someone owned it before. But they say it’s “very good”. So maybe it’s okay. This one, they made it in 2020. Not too old, I guess. It also comes with the original box and papers. So it looks like the new one, maybe.
This watch, it’s big. They say 39 millimeters. Don’t know what that means, but it sounds big. And 9.24 millimeters high. It is not that heavy but big. It’s also water-resistant, they say. Up to 30 meters. Don’t go swimming with it, though. Just in case. And it’s got a sapphire crystal. Sounds like something from a fairy tale. This thing is too fancy for me.
They say this watch got 27 jewels inside. Not real jewels, I think. Just part of the watch. And it’s got this Gyromax balance thing. Sounds complicated. I don’t know how it all works, but it must be something special to cost so much, right? And it can run for 66 hours without you doing anything. That’s almost three days. It will keep working as you do not wear it for 3 days.
So, this Patek Philippe Calatrava 5227R-001, it’s a fancy watch. Costs a lot of money. Got lots of features. Automatic and all that. If you got the money, maybe it’s worth it. But for me, I’ll stick to my old watch. It tells the time just fine. And it didn’t cost me a fortune! It is good enough for me.
