So, I got this idea to make a high imitation of the Rolex GMT-Master II, you know, the “Root Beer” one. I’ve always liked that watch. It has a black and brown bezel, pretty cool looking. I named this little project “Original Order”, sounds fancy, huh?

I started looking around, and found some pictures online of this “High imitation Rolex GMT-Master II Root Beer Bezel.” The photos were not bad, I must say. This watch had a two-tone bracelet, just like the real deal, and that classic black and brown bezel. I was like, “Okay, this is doable.”

First, I needed to gather all the materials. I did some digging and found some good quality parts. I mean, they weren’t Rolex level, but they were pretty decent. I spent a good few days just getting everything together. It was quite a process. I got the case, the bezel, the bracelet, the movement, and even a little crown logo, just for the details.

Then came the hard part, putting it all together. I’m no expert watchmaker, but I’ve messed around with watches before. I carefully started assembling the watch. It was tricky, let me tell you. There were moments I thought I messed up, but I kept at it. I used some tiny tools and a magnifying glass. I felt like a real watchmaker, even though I was just doing it at my desk.

My Steps

  • First I took the watch case and placed the movement inside.
  • Then I fixed the dial and the hands.
  • After that, I put the bezel on. It was a bit tough to get it to click just right, but finally, it did.
  • Lastly, I attached the bracelet. This part was easier than I thought.

After hours of work, it was finally done. I held the finished watch in my hand, and man, it felt good. It looked surprisingly close to the real Rolex GMT-Master II “Root Beer” bezel. Of course, it’s not the same as a 43,900 EUR one, but for something I made myself, I was proud.

I wore it around for a few days, and it kept time pretty well. I even got a few compliments from my friends. They thought it was a real Rolex at first. I had a good laugh about that. This whole “Original Order” project was a fun experience. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. I learned a lot about watches and had a blast doing it.

I saw on Amazon a review about Stuhrling, which is some American brand, I read it and found it was interesting. But me? I like to do these things by myself. It just felt more rewarding.

I mean, this thing is not for sale. This is just for my own fun, my collection. And yeah, it’s just fun to share it with you guys.
