Remake PRADA Large Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag Original Order: Real Deal or Fake? Find Out

Okay, so I’ve been wanting a Prada bag for like, forever. But they’re crazy expensive, you know? So I started looking into this whole “remake” thing. People online were calling them “Prada look alike bags” or even “Fake Prada bag.” And honestly, that made me nervous. I didn’t want to get ripped off.

But I kept digging. I found out that the bag I really wanted, the big Galleria one, is made from this special leather called Saffiano. Apparently, the guy who started Prada, Mario Prada, he made up this process himself way back when! It’s real leather, but they treat it and stamp it with this pattern that makes it tough and hard to scratch. Good for me, ’cause I’m kinda clumsy.

I decided I was gonna try to remake one myself. I mean, how hard could it be, right? (Famous last words, haha!) I found some Saffiano leather online, though finding the right color was a pain. Then came the pattern. The Galleria has this specific design, and getting that right was super important. I spent hours looking at pictures of real Prada bags, trying to figure out the measurements and stuff. I finally made a paper pattern, after messing up like a million times.

  • First, I cut out all the leather pieces using my (finally) perfected paper pattern. That took forever and a day.
  • Then, I started sewing. Let me tell you, sewing thick leather is NO joke. My poor sewing machine was working overtime!
  • The handles were a whole other adventure. I wanted them to be sturdy, so I used this special cord stuff inside and wrapped it with leather. It took a lot of patience, and my fingers were killing me by the end of it.
  • Putting the lining in was tricky too. I picked a nice fabric that felt kinda luxurious. I hand-stitched most of it because I was scared of messing up on the machine.

After weeks of work, I finally finished it! It wasn’t perfect, but it was MY Prada, you know? I even found a little white tag in my sewing stuff and sewed it inside one of the pockets. I wrote a random number on it, just like the real Prada bags. They have these factory codes, or whatever they are, on little tags inside. Feels a little more authentic that way, right?

The Big Reveal

I’ve been using my “Prada” for a few weeks now, and I gotta say, I’m pretty proud of myself. It holds all my junk – and I carry a LOT. It’s definitely a large-sized bag, which is perfect for me. It’s been holding up great, too. The Saffiano leather is tough, just like they say. I even spilled coffee on it the other day (oops!), but it wiped right off.

So, was it worth it? Yeah, I think so. I learned a ton, and I have a bag that’s pretty darn close to the real thing, for a fraction of the price. Would I do it again? Maybe not anytime soon. My fingers still haven’t forgiven me! But hey, at least I can say I (kinda) made my own Prada Galleria, and this is my record!
